The 'coming soon' problem
It's common for software vendors — especially in fast-moving categories like AI — to present roadmap items and marketing renders as if the capability already exists in a usable form. For a buyer, that's hard to detect from the outside: a screenshot of a planned feature looks identical to a screenshot of a shipped one, and by the time the gap surfaces, it's usually after a contract is signed.
That pattern is a particularly bad fit for infrastructure and capital-project software, where decisions informed by a platform's stated capability can carry real cost, schedule, and safety consequences.
NexBixi's four-label model
Every capability referenced on this site — on the Platform pages, the Explorer, Solutions, Services — carries one of four honest status labels: Available, Early Access, In Development, or Planned. This isn't a marketing device; it's a rule enforced across the content model itself (see how `CapabilityStatusBadge` is used throughout the site), and it's applied consistently even where a more optimistic label would read better.
As of this post, most of NexBixi's Intelligence & Automation capability group — the AI/agentic layer — is genuinely early-stage: labeled `in_development` or `planned`, not `available`. Ask NexBixi, the public assistant on this site, currently runs on an honest 'not yet connected' fallback rather than a live model, and says so directly when you use it.
Why this matters more in ICP/EPC specifically
Engineering practice runs on verifiable status, not aspirational status — a drawing is either issued for construction or it isn't; a system is either commissioned or it isn't. Software claiming AI-assisted decision support for capital projects should be held to the same standard: a feature is either something you can use today, or it isn't, and conflating the two erodes exactly the kind of trust this category needs to earn.
What this means for evaluating NexBixi today
NexBixi is pre-launch. If you're evaluating it, take the status labels on the Platform and Solutions pages at face value — they're the same source of truth this post is describing, not separate marketing copy. Where something is labeled planned or in development, that's the honest current state, not a hedge.
